Editing Charts before posting:

I personally use Gecko Charts, which allows you to draw all sorts of neat things right there on the chart...it has built in tools for support and resistance levels, retracements, etc. which make your life a lot easier. You can request a free demo disk shipped to you or download a free demo (full version) of the software here.

This tutorial was written using Windows 98, it is very basic and assumes you know nothing about finding your way around a computer...that way almost everyone is covered. Any questions, ask Spike, hehe! Please note: not all trading forums permit the posting of charts. This was written specifically for the forums at Friends and Traders, the Commodity Cafe and Traders Helping Traders, all of which permit image posting.

Step 1
The first thing you need to do is save the image of the chart you wish to post. I do this by doing a Print Screen. As soon as you have the chart looking exactly as you want it in Gecko Charts (or wherever), with all the little bells and whistles intact...hit the Print Screen key at the top right side of your keyboard. (Next to all those F-numbers and Scroll Lock)

Step 2
The next thing to do is open an image editing program like Adobe Photoshop, PaintShop Pro or Microsoft Paint. For this tutorial we'll use Microsoft Paint which is on just about every Windows computer. It resides under "Accessories" which you will find by clicking the Start button, 

which is located at the bottom left of your screen; then select Programs, then Accessories, and scroll down until you find Paint.

When you have the program open, click on the Edit button, top left next to File, and then click Paste. (You can also press your Ctrl key on your keyboard, and at the same time press the V key. This is a shortcut to pasting something from the clipboard)

If the little pop down panel doesn't give you the paste option, in other words if the word Paste looks almost invisible, that means there is nothing on the clipboard to paste...ya blew it! Go back to step 1 and copy the image again.
