How to edit and post charts onto the forum - a selection of tutorials. Editing Charts before posting: I personally use Gecko Charts, which allows you to draw all sorts of neat things right there on the chart...it has built in tools for support and resistance levels, retracements, etc. which make your life a lot easier. You can request a free demo disk shipped to you or download a free demo (full version) of the software here. |

This tutorial was written using Windows 98, it is very basic and assumes you know nothing about finding your way around a computer...that way almost everyone is covered. Any questions, ask Spike, hehe! Please note: not all trading forums permit the posting of charts. This was written specifically for the forums at Friends and Traders, the Commodity Cafe and Traders Helping Traders, all of which permit image posting. Step 1 Step 2 which is located at the bottom left of your screen; then select Programs, then Accessories, and scroll down until you find Paint.
When you have the program open, click on the Edit button, top left next to File, and then click Paste. (You can also press your Ctrl key on your keyboard, and at the same time press the V key. This is a shortcut to pasting something from the clipboard) If the little pop down panel doesn't give you the paste option, in other words if the word Paste looks almost invisible, that means there is nothing on the clipboard to paste...ya blew it! Go back to step 1 and copy the image again.
A little box may pop up saying something like "The image in the clipboard is larger than the bitmap. Would you like the bitmap enlarged?" Click Yes. The image will load and fill the window. If you cannot see the entire area you want to save, maximize the screen by hitting the little box icon in the top right corner, between the X and the minus sign. Look at the screenshot above: it's in the same purple panel as the filename...which is "untitled - Paint" at this time.
